PT Sessions. 3 down and in for another 8!

I love love love my PT sessions with Billie-Jo. She's awesome! And apart from pushing me harder than I would ever push myself, she's really funny and a blast to hang out with (after our training session, of course!).

Initially I signed up for 3 sessions on a whim while I was joining the gym and signing my life away for the next 12 months. I am really happy that I did sign up for it though, otherwise I probably would never have met Billie-Jo or discovered how great personal training session are for me.

Session 1 was all about the finding out my FittnessAge which you can read about here.

Session 2 was a bit of a plunge in the deep end of the pool, with Billie-Jo trying me out with exercises and weights to guage how much I can handle and be pushed. Let me just tell you, there was lots of giggling and talking going on during my second session. We even sat around for nearly an hour just chatting about anything and everything after my half hour session :)

Session 3 was a very hard workout. I did heaps of weight training and ab work. At the time I thought I was working as hard as I could, but the next day I wasn't feeling any of the muscle burn that I should have so I must not have worked quite as hard as I should. It was still a great session though. I'm super keen to get the technique right so I'm getting the full effect of each exercise. This is a bit painful, but it will be worth learning. Technique is everything!

I am so happy with the sessions that I've signed up for another block of 8 with Billie-Jo. I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I am already reaping the benefits, so can't say enough about it - just get out there and have a go! You'll be surprised :)

Thought I was organised

This morning I had planned to do a bit or work at home and then book Owen in to the gym's day care centre and do a class.

Ah, no. I can't do that on the day apparently. I need to book Owen in at least 3 days in advance!

So since that plan is out the window I guess I'll just have to work extra hard doing housework to make up for the lost class :)

Must make a note to book Owen in for next Friday... on Monday!

Time to fess up...

Tonight I had my first ever personal training session.

I was nervous and excited about this meeting with my PT, Billi-Jo. I had these horrible thoughts all day today that she was going to be a nasty piece of work and that I would be worked so hard that I wouldn't be able to stumble out of the gym and make it home in one piece :)-

Anyway, I'm happy to report that Billi-Jo was exactly the opposite to what I had imagined - she's great! But in saying that, tonight's session wasn't a real traning session for me. The next one wil be harder - I can pretty much guarantee that much!

It was half an hour of testing to find out what myFitness Age really is.

Your Fitness Age tells you that you are, physically speaking, performing at the same level of the average person that age.

So here are my stats, taken tonight that assist in the Fitness Age calculation:

Weight: 75kg
Height: 168cm
Birth Date: 15/04/1979
Waist: 86cm
Hips:113cm
Recovery Pulse: 115
Sit & Reach: +15cm
1 min of Sit Ups: 24
Max Push Ups: 10

Ok, so here's the home truth - my Fitness Age is 49.
Yep, I know. What a shocker, hey.

But at least I've got a starting point to progress from now, and it will all improve. It may take a while, but at least I'm willing (and able) to work on it.

Just the beginning...

Today is the first day hopping off the dieting band wagon for good.
Today is the beginning of a new lifestyle.

Gone are the days of the half-hearted attempt to 'be good'.
Replacing the 'good' or 'bad' days is a new way if thinking about what I'm eating and how it will affect me.

Everyday.

This is obviously something that I needed to realise all on my own.
And the penny has dropped - finally ;)

This has taken a long time for me.
And I know a lot has to change in order to practice what I preach.

Everyday will be a good day though, even the ones that include treats!

Ok, so that's the diet side of things all covered.

Now the exercise thing.

The exercise has already begun and is going great guns, even if I do say so myself! I am now a member of a gym which is very close to home and offers a huge range of classes and excellent equipment with opening times that suit my lifestyle.

I also have a fantastic friend (Meegan - yes we have the same name and a whole lot of things in common!) who supports, motivates and inspires me.
Thank you for all this and more in advance Meegan :)

So this is a place for me to record my thoughts, results and progress.

Please feel free to add comments to this blog, and I look forward to reading them!

Take care,
meegan xx
